WHO IS LARRY PETREE
Larry Petree is best known as a Gospel songwriter, with over 50 charting compositions and multiple # 1 and top 5 songs to his credit. Larry has been nominated for multiple awards including the prestigious Dove award, and has won songwriter of the year awards twice in his career.
Larry was also included in the Who's Who of Gospel music, awarded by The Voice Magazine.
Larry is an author as well, having written a book for songwriters, available in both audio and hardcopy. A book is also in the works, to tell of his work and labor in the church world.
Larry has served the Church as Pastor, Evangelist, and Educator.
Larry is also known for his controversial and hard-hitting Gospel sermons, which has stirred the wrath of some and the admiration of others.
With a passion for education Larry began his pursuit of learning by attending a secular college. Yet, with a greater burden for Christian education he received his Bachelor of Theology and Master of Counseling and Doctor of Theology degrees. These were earned accomplishments.
Larry has also received an honorary degree of Doctor of Sacred Music, for his outstanding contributions to the field of Gospel Music.

A Man Of The Song – Larry Petree

When I think of all the great songwriters over the years that have taken up the pen and began to put onto paper the words that form the foundations of the greatest songs that have touched and moved our lives it reminds me of just how important the songwriter really is.
Oftentimes these Godly men & women work and write in the shadows of great heartache & pain & tragedy and more often than not receive little recognition for the great talents and gifts that they bring to our industry. Many of them are able to write their lyrics & rhymes in such convincing prose that it leaves little doubt that many have lived and breathed the very songs they give birth to. And at the same time these folks often have experienced first hand the great and overwhelming presence of God in their lives that causes them to be able to write songs that may begin with tragedy and yet in almost every case ends with a feast of triumph based on the promises of the Word of God.
It is in those promises that one of the most prolific writers of Gospel Music today, Larry Petree, gains his inspiration & strength. I have had the honor of sharing with Larry personally the passion that he has for the Lord and I count him as a strong man of faith and prayer. And the special gifts and talents of The Man of Song don’t end with songwriting. Larry Petree is also a powerful vocalist and has recently released 3 songs to radio which all reached the top of the Radioactive Airplay charts. The popularity of the singer/songwriter among DJs has placed him solidly in the Top 10 most popular artists at Radioactive Airplay.

Larry Petree comes from a rich heritage of faith & family. Some of his songs are tributes to various family members who walked the path before him and demonstrated a faithful & Godly witness before the young impressionable boy who would grow up to be one of Gospel Music’s greatest treasures.
Over the past few years I have had the privilege of meeting and sharing with many of our greatest artists. I am thrilled that recently the Lord is introducing me more and more to many of our great writers in Gospel Music. While I am excited about what the future holds for Brother Larry in the area of songwriting I guess I’m even more excited about the future of hearing these great songs performed by the writer himself. When I first heard him sing it was on a YouTube Video of Larry singing Walking High. I instantly fell in love with the song and suggested to Larry that he release that song himself. I don’t think anyone could do for that song what Larry Petree can do. The passion with which he sings the songs tells me that here is a man who has lived the song. You can’t fake that kind of passion. Not even in the best studios!
